Is composite bonding the same as “Turkey teeth”?
No — it is closer to the opposite. “Turkey teeth” horror stories are almost always about crowns: healthy teeth filed down to pegs. Composite bonding adds material to your teeth without cutting them. Your enamel stays intact, and the treatment is reversible. It is exactly the procedure we recommend to avoid the crown regret you have read about.
Does bonding damage or ruin your natural teeth?
No. The composite bonds to the surface of your enamel with little to no preparation. Nothing is drilled away in a typical case, which is why bonding is considered the most conservative cosmetic treatment in dentistry.
Does it hurt?
Most patients need no anaesthetic at all — there is no drilling into the tooth, so there is usually nothing to numb. You lie back, and the longest part is simply keeping your mouth open.
How long does composite bonding last?
Typically 3–7 years before it needs a refresh, depending on your bite, diet and habits. It is not a once-in-a-lifetime treatment — but unlike crowns, refreshing it is quick, painless and does not damage the tooth underneath.
